Accessibility statement

This site is itself a reference on WCAG 2.1 AA conformance. Holding it to that standard is non-negotiable.

Conformance target

wcag21aa.org targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all published pages. We treat this target as non-negotiable: a reference site on WCAG that fails its own standard is a credibility failure, not a minor flaw.

Testing methodology

Each published page is verified against the following before going live:

  • Automated checks with axe-core (zero violations target)
  • Keyboard-only navigation pass: Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Escape, Arrow keys
  • Screen reader pass on at least one page per phase (NVDA on Windows or VoiceOver on macOS)
  • Color contrast verification: 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text
  • Heading hierarchy review (no skipped levels)
  • Focus indicator visibility on every interactive element
  • Skip-to-content link present and reachable on first Tab
  • lang attribute set on the document root
  • Meaningful alt text on every image; empty alt on decorative images

Build-time and ongoing reviews are documented in the site repository.

Known issues

As of the last review, there are no known WCAG 2.1 AA conformance issues. If issues are identified, they will be listed here with a planned remediation date and updated when resolved.
